Diagnostic criteria:
- Headache with at least one of the following characteristics and fulfilling criteria C and D:
- bilateral
- frontotemporal location
- pulsating quality
- aggravated by physical activity
- Ingestion of beverage containing alcohol1
- Headache develops within 3 hours after ingestion of alcoholic beverage
- Headache resolves within 72 hours
Note:
- The effective dose has not been determined.
Comment:
A few subjects develop headache due to a direct effect of alcohol or alcoholic beverages. This is much rarer than delayed alcohol-induced headache.
